The inspiration behind this painting began with my long term association with the care sector, and a desire to depict the positive, nurturing and protective aspect associated with care on to canvas.

By using the 'Academy of Care Practitioners' logo as a starting point, I wanted to create a colourful and energetic, abstract painting but with recognisable elements; particularly in the choice of colour; strong blues, purples and golds.

The colour blue is associated with patience, loyalty and contemplation; purple is related to selflessness, dignity and humanitarianism; gold is experience, vitality and wisdom.

The three colours combined symbolise the key elements that together form a positive image of care in society today.

The painting is a reflection of those attributes and to recognise the dedication, value and importance of workers in the care sector.
